As early as February this year, the European Commission proposed to abolish the 150 euro tax-free threshold for small parcels established since 2010 in order to comprehensively strengthen the control of imported parcels.

The latest draft proposal of the European Commission shows that the EU is planning to impose a uniform fee of 2 euros on billions of small parcels entering the EU, and parcels delivered through warehouses will be charged a handling fee of 0.5 euros.

Data shows that in 2024, there will be as many as 4.6 billion small parcels with a unit price of less than 150 euros entering the EU market, of which about 91% come from China. The EU has previously stated that the number of dangerous and non-compliant goods in the EU market has increased, and complaints from EU retailers about unfair competition are also increasing.
