Crepe
Crepe is a plain fabric made of cotton as the main raw material, through strong twist yarn weaving and loose finishing process, and its surface forms uniform longitudinal wrinkles. The fabric has the characteristics of light texture (yarn count is mostly below 14.6), soft and refreshing feel, excellent weft elasticity, and good air permeability and wrinkle resistance.
Process characteristics
Ordinary cotton yarn is used in the warp direction, and strong twist yarn with sizing treatment is used in the weft direction.
The residual sizing is eliminated through pre-treatment processes such as loose desizing, scouring, and bleaching.
Hot water or hot alkali solution treatment shrinks the weft yarn to form lasting wrinkles, and the shrinkage rate generally reaches 30%.
The embossing crepe process can produce straight strip crepes, and the alternating weaving of strong twist yarn and ordinary yarn produces herringbone patterns.
It is mainly used in clothing manufacturing, home textile decoration and industry.
